Lampe Park Fishing Derby

The tiny little town of Gardnerville, which is situated right next to our tiny town of Minden, hosts a HUGE fishing derby for kids every year.  This was the 23rd year.  They stock our little stream that runs through Lampe Park with several thousand trout, and 1500 kids show up over the course of the weekend to try and hook a winner.  Some fish are tagged, indicating a prize for the kids who are lucky enough to catch them.  And there are prizes for the biggest fish overall.

Gunnar was so excited to catch his 2 fish limit in the time allowed.  Neither were tagged and neither were particularly sizable, but they were the best fish ever and met our grill later that night.

Happy fishermen!!

 Weighing in!
